3. Leave Canada - Check?

There are a few obvious advantages of having family in Southern BC: warmth, beaches, and proximity to the border for cheap shopping!
When our family suggested crossing the border for a little retail therapy, I jumped at the chance.
Who would say no to that??
Well… maybe my husband would… but he knows how much I like it!

4. Do devotions every day for a month - Check!

Theoretically I know the importance of spending time with God each day…. but I haven't been putting my knowledge into practice.
I have a tendency to put God lower on my priority list then He should be.
My tendency is to spend my free time scrapbooking, or baking, or chatting with my husband, or blogging… I'm not prioritizing God.
That's why I was excited about making one of my 14 of 14 goals to complete devotions regularly.
Something about putting these goals down on this little blog, makes me feel accountable to everyone on the world wide web. I feel compelled to complete all my goals or my 5 faithful followers will know that I didn't! (that includes you Mom!)
Truth be told, I started trying to complete this goal in February and failed.
But I put this down as a goal, and I had to keep trying!

Learning to Run Again

Here we go again... learning to run for the third time in a couple of years.
Every time starting back at ground zero.
Run one minute. Walk two. Run one minute. Walk two.
Is there such as thing as yo-yo running??

Angel Food Cake - Take 2!

If you're thinking, "I thought she just made one of those?", then you would be right.
I recently posted about making an Angel Food Cake, and although it looked pretty, and tasted good, it wasn't light and airy. I have been waiting for the chance to redeem myself ever since that day.

Getting Active Again

One of my 14 of 14 goals this year was to get back to my pre-pregnancy baby weight.
It seems that I may have let my weight gain get a little out of control while I was pregnant…

13. Make an Angel Food Cake - Check!

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I figured it was the perfect time to complete another (delicious) goal from my 14 of 14 goal list.
I was not wrong in assuming that an angel food cake can be difficult to make!
Apparently they are temperamental. Egg whites not beat enough? Doesn't turn out. Little bit of yolk in the mix? Doesn't turn out. Cooking time not exact? Doesn't turn out. Ingredients not mixed at the right time? Doesn't turn out.
Bahh! How does one succeed with these recipes!
I didn't hit it out of the park on my first attempt. You can see from the photos that it didn't quite rise enough and was a bit heavy. But it was still delicious!

It was the perfect time to make this cake. It's almost mandatory to have sweets on Valentine's Day, and angel food cake is a fairly healthy cake (although that's a total oxymoron!), and still tastes decadent.

10. Learn how to use a sewing machine - Check!

Through all of my crafting endeavors, I've never learned how to sew or use a sewing machine.
This is a basic crafting skill, is it not?!
I felt like learning to sew was an essential skill that I was missing from my repertoire,  so I may have hinted to the husband that it would be a great Christmas gift idea...
and he came through! Like he always does!
I received this beautiful new sewing machine on Christmas morning.

I immediately added "learn to sew" to my 14 of 14 goal list.
And what better time to start learning then when I was already at home, and there still wasn't a baby!
This may have been the last bit of free time I had for a while...

The machine came with a one hour tutorial on how to use the machine, which I booked promptly... although warning the teacher that I may go into labour before the class...
Once I had some familiarity with the machine, my sister-in-law was gracious enough to spend some time helping me pick out fabrics, and then learning how to plan a receiving blanket :)

It actually wasn't as hard as I thought.
Once I understood a few basic concepts I was able to plow ahead at full speed.
I finished one blanket with my sister-in-law, but figured that wasn't enough to say that I knew how to use my machine, so I promptly went home and completed another one. Sans help!

And here are the finished products!
Two well-constructed receiving blankets :)
Each one is 1m x 1m.

It's only January and I've already completed one of my goals! YAY!
This will not be the last you see of my amazing sewing machine though :)

You may have noticed my completed 13 of 13 goal list.
I made a list of goals last year in lieu of a regular New Years Resolution.
I had so much fun with the idea that I decided to make another list for 2014.
It may be a bit ambitious to try and accomplish these things with a baby due any day, but what's life without a few challenges, right?!

So here goes:

1, Completely redecorate my bedroom
2. Learn to play a couple worship songs on the guitar
3. Leave Canada
4. Do devotions every day for a month
5. Host an BBQ
6. Finish a scrapbook album of the baby's first year
7. Learn to curl my hair
8. Complete the front garden
9. Run with the baby stroller (regularly!)
10. Learn to use a sewing machine
11. Write 200 blog posts
12. Get back to my pre-pregnancy weight
13. Make an angel food cake

BONUS GOAL: Photograph all these goals!
Wish me luck!
