They Call it Puppy Love

This is a family of dog lovers. There is absolutely no questions about that! We LOVE our two puppies.
The little black one (we don't know what type!) was mine before my husband and I married, and the Rottweiler was my husband's.
They are known as Joop (pronounced "Yope") and Daisy.
And they are learning to adjust to life with a baby!

Clean Christmas Puppies

Mr. A and I are not the only ones that need to get all cleaned up for the holidays!
Every once in a while, it's time for the puppies to take a bath :)
They are not fans of the bath.
Not fans at all.
Joop especially spends the entire time trying to escape.
But since its needed, and since I find it hilarious, they still have to have one!
Here are some pics of the fun:

Getting brushed first!

Bath time!

Trying to jump out... unsuccessfully

Daisy trying to help Joop after her bath.

The best part of every dog bath is the craziness that follows.
I think all dogs become temporarily wild as they wait for the their fur to dry.
Without doing anything to entice them, they just run around like mad doggies for a while.
I LOVE watching them play together!
Here's a short snippet of the action for your enjoyment :)

And look how gorgeous they both look after the bath!
Relaxing on the couch after that exhausting ordeal.
Beautiful fur and Christmas bandanas.

Whirlwind Winter Weekend

That's right! Winter has arrived in Grande Prairie!
I'm not complaining though... if you ask me it was right on schedule :)
The entire weekend was full of blue skies and sunshine with fluffy white snow on the ground.
We made sure to spend some time frolicking outdoors and cozying up indoors - best of both worlds!

More homemade trifles we served friends this weekend. They look fancy, but take 10 minutes to make!

Some activities I took part in this weekend:

The first winter walk of the season was fantastic! It was soooo nice out!
And the puppies will take every opportunity they can to run around!

I'm not the only one that got creative this weekend! The husband began working on some of his projects too. The truck is half built here - getting ready for our annual Christmas crafting :)
And the wood below is ready for the husband to get started with his crib building!
One day of crib building down, two months to go! lol.

Sunshine and snow makes for a great combination :)
Hope you enjoyed your long weekend!

Warm Tomato Soup Weekend

This past weekend was the exact kind of weekend where you want to make a big bowl of warm tomato soup :) Soup that's even more glorious because the fresh tomatoes were straight from our own garden!
It was a weekend that made me want to cozy up inside in the evenings and take nice strolls during the day. Baking. Reading. Watching movies. Popcorn and wine with (de-alcoholized of course!). Things that allow me to zone out the rest of the world for a bit and just plain relax.

Now this didn't mean I totally dropped any agenda. Still met with some friends for tea. Still had lunch with our small group. Still visited with family.
But I didn't have an agenda. Having a weekend without any "To-Do" lists floating around my head or any goals that are getting finished is unheard of for me!
I love having goals and agendas most of the time, but every once in a while I would just like to sit down with some warm home-made tomato soup and relax :)

The puppies clearly took the hint from me that this was a weekend to relax.
They had no trouble joining in :)

Now that my relaxing is done, it's time to start my weekly "to-do" list!

Autumn Musings

Up in northern Alberta we can already tell that our Autumn days are numbered.
Is there any place on Earth that has Fall for 6 months a year instead of Winter??
If such a place exists I would like to move there...

I just l-o-v-e this season.
I will soak up a nice walk in this weather whenever I get the chance... although my current circumstances (i.e. being pregnant) seem to limit the amount of walking time I can handle... especially when you stop at Starbucks first!

I also determined that this is Joop's favourite season. That little dog kicks leaves up every chance he gets! Although I will say that he's equally excited to go for a walk at any other time of the year.

Sunny skies. Warm drinks. Energetic puppies. Beautiful scenery. Handsome husband. Gorgeous colours. No wind. Plenty to be thankful for on these Autumn days.
Here are some pictures of what we happily soaked up during our fall stroll:

Edmonton Getaway

Since it was our anniversary this weekend, we decided to get away for a bit.
Although we didn't go far - just a quick 5 hour jaunt to Edmonton - it felt like a mini vacation :)
Any chance we have to get out of town we jump at.
Plus, Edmonton provides LOTS of specialty shopping opportunities that don't exist in GP.
So Mr. A grabbed a bucket of coffee (X-Large at Timmy's), I grabbed an Iced Capp, and we were on our way!

The drive always gives me a chance to start a new knitting project :)

Being able to stay with my Aunt and Uncle is a real blessing every time we go down.
Barry has endless stories to share, Merle cooks gourmet food, and they love our dogs!
This time around there were five dogs in the house (two of theirs, two of ours, and one of their son's).

We entertained ourselves by riding around in the new Jeep!
Apparently the top and doors will stay off until Barry stops seeing Motorcycles on the road - if they can be on the road, so can he! lol.
We took this baby through the drive through at Tim Horton's and got a few funny looks along the way. 10 degrees doesn't seem like the best temperature for the top to be off. Good thing I had my warm coat!

And then... for some reason - all the dogs were in the Jeep!
Endless entertainment!
Our pups were pretty scared when the car started moving!

One dog jumped out a bit too early and got left behind...

We also got a LOT of shopping done!!
Tons of good deals on baby things...

A new anniversary pair of boots for me :) ....

And a new anniversary lego set for Mr. A :)

Relaxing & successful weekend!
