Happy Easter!!

"Before the Passover Festival, Jesus knew that His hour had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end."
-John 13:1

I am excited to celebrate Easter.
I am excited to celebrate the sacrifice that God made, allowing His only Son to die for my sins.
I get far too wrapped in decorating my home and baking egg-themed treats this time of year.
Time to re-focus my prayers and thanksgiving.
Although I plan to celebrate with my kids by hiding eggs, eating chocolate bunnies, and dyeing Easter eggs, I also plan to share the story of how Christ died for us and rose again.
I plan to install God's love into their hearts and plant seeds of hope and joy.
I am excited to celebrate Easter always.

He is risen indeed!
Enjoy your Easter everyone :)

Easter Baby Leg Warmers

These days, my baby girl is kicking like crazy all the time.
No wonder she sleeps through the night with all of the energy she's spending on bicycling those little legs! It is so fun to just watch her kick her legs around and explore her world in new ways.
This week I decided to snap a few photos of her moving around so I put her in some adorbs Easter-egg-coloured baby leg warmers to show off her moves :)
(they are made by BabyLegs if you're wondering)
Seriously? Is there anything cuter than this??

Easter Egg Lemon Cupcakes

Lemon is the flavour of the Spring.
Am I right? Or am I right?
Lemony goodness screams Springtime.
Or maybe its just the colour yellow that screams Spring…. but something about the prospect of sunshine coming out, leaving the house without a coat, and pulling out my rain boots makes me want to bake lemon treats.
So I made some cupcakes :)

Washi Tape Easter Garland

As time flies by, my love for washi tape only grows.
Its nothing special, really. I envy the person that came up with it! It's just decorative tape!
But it has so many simple uses to spice up your life.
If you don't believe me, just check out my washi wonder Pinterest board

Spring Mantle

Prepare yourselves… here comes the first of many Spring and Easter posts!
This past year I began decorating my mantle to represent different times of the year (see my Fall mantle, or St. Patricks day mantle).
It's an easy and effective way to get me excited about each new season and holiday.
Plus, it usually adds a new splash of colour to our living room :)

Easter Cupcake Hunt!

So, I briefly considered doing an Easter egg hunt for my husband.
Very briefly considered.
And then I realized that we are adults.
I can have plenty of fun with this stuff when we have kids right?!?

Then I was looking at the new mini cupcake molds that I had.
I was already working with candy melts that day too, thanks to the delicious Easter egg strawberries
So I concocted a new plan.

Don't have chocolate eggs... use something else!
Don't want to make a grown up run all around the house (not to mention he'll probably get bored and hate me, and he doesn't crave sweets anyway... lol) - only hide 5 treats!
This was  a great plan.

AND here he is hunting for Easter chocolate cupcakes on a lovely Easter Sunday morning...

Easter Egg Strawberries

If you don't think that these Easter coloured, candy-coated Strawberries look amazing...
...then we can't be friends.

Since I love all things related to all holidays... I was looking for an Easter themed treat to make.
When I saw these Easter egg strawberries I HAD to re-create them.
They actually taste delicious. The candy coating almost has a white chocolate taste to it.
PLUS, they're made with strawberries! So they're practically healthy snacks :)

One of my friends was just as excited as I was tackle this mess as I was.
So here's how a lovely Good Friday afternoon was spent with my friend....

Strawberries washed and ready to be transformed into a colourful mess

Candy Melts!
(Made by Wilton - bought at Michaels)

Dipping the strawberries

All dipped and ready to become Easter eggs!

Let the creativity begin!
(We just used ziploc bags and cut a small hole to allow the candy to drizzle out nicely)

The extent of our decorating skills :)

Finished product!

Can't wait to share these with my family at our Easter dinner!

AND
... now I'm thinking of all the candy-coated possibilities...
... baby showers... wedding showers... birthdays... holidays...
This may become a trend in my home... good thing Mr. A enjoyed them!
