H2H Challenge: A Banner Day

The Heart 2 Heart Challenge this week to was to use Banners in our designs.
I chose to incorporate some into the wedding card I was making :)
I really like the way the card turned out. White and black together are iconic for wedding cards in my opinion... plus a little splash of red - the colour of love!

Mini Thank You Cards

This post is feeling looong overdue!
Not that there needs to be a timeline on when I post scrapbooking cards or pages, but these cards were made before I had Eleanor... and that seems like a looong time ago.

Chocolate Bar Love Letter

Valentine's Day - the holiday of love.
With a new baby at home for Valentine's Day, I knew I wouldn't have a chance to run around town looking for gifts for my husband. In lieu of something new, I decided to make something sweet (no pun intended).

Christmas Cards

Seems a bit late to be writing posts about Christmas cards... considering I already sent them all!
But I still enjoy sharing my creations with everyone :)

The next three cards were all created using the Close to My Heart Frosted Cardmaking kit.
The kits make it so easy and effortless to put cards together.

The rest of the cards below were designed or modified by me.
Because I've made so many cards in the past, ideas seem to come faster than ever!
This year I made more cards than any year previous, but it probably took me less time.

This one uses the CTMH Glory to God stamp set:

I loved all of these cards!
The main stamp is from the September Stamp of the Month in the most recent catalog: Poster Tidings.
And the snowflake stamps in the background are from the frosted cardmaking kit :)

The stamps and the bling in the next two cards are from the Trim the Tree stamp set, while the words in both of the cards are from the October stamp of the month: Scandanavian Wishes :)

These cards were super easy to make. Just a coloured in stamp and some Christmas washi tape!

I love the way the colouring turned out on these cards. I stamped the image with Archival Black ink, and then coloured it in using Juniper markers. The blending pen was used to get the faded effect in the bottom "HO" of the stamp :)

And these cards were made using the Scandanavian Wishes stamp again for the heart and the words. The snowflake came from the frosted cardmaking kit (I just loved the small snowflakes!).

Then, you can't really see it in the top photo, but the snowflakes were also embossed onto the gray background with pearl embossing powder to get a clear effect that shines in the light :)

And there you have it!
LOTS of new cards and ideas this year :)
Let me know if you have any questions - or if you like any of them in particular!
See the tab above for more CTMH information :)

New Scrapbook Cards

Right now I'm in full Christmas card mode, but events always come up in between!
Here are a few of the cards I've made recently...
All very different styles.
Now that I make them so frequently, I can pop out a quick simple design in less time than it takes me to pick one out at the drug store.

Welcome baby small gift bag card :)

Simple wedding card :)

Simple wedding gift bag card. This was my first attempt at embossing (with the new scrapbooking tool my husband gave me!). It's what gives the letter and heart the shine, and the 3D texture. Hopefully I get better at this, but I thought it was good enough to use :) [minus the smudge of glitter]

And a birthday card for one of those handsome gents using CTMH Buzz and Bumble paper!

Anniversary card for my husband :) Made using CTMH huntington paper!

Birthday card for my Daddy :) Made using CTMH huntington paper also!

Babycakes Cards

In anticipation of some of my friends having babies I decided to pre-make a few cards.
And since I'll be plus one baby myself next year... I figured it would be better to make them now rather than wait for the babies to get here (still several months for some of them!). Apparently you don't have as much free time for things like card-making once the babies come...

I used the Babycakes Scrapbooking Kit from Close to My Heart for all of the paper and embellishments.

I also used the Washi Wonder Stamp set to make these two (almost identical) cards :)

Ok friends - time to have your babies now!

How to Make Simple Stands for Cards

For my recent party, I decided to make some simple chalkboard labels so that everyone could label the snacks that they brought to share (nice idea to highlight ingredients too, like milk and peanuts for allergies).

The labels were made with chalkboard vinyl, cut on my cricut, and adhered to scrapbook paper (also cut using the same shape on the cricut).

Once the labels were made, I needed to find a way to keep them standing up.
....Tape wouldn't work with some people's plates (or near food).
....Sticks put into the food may be unsteady, or not stay in.
... time to make my own stands!

Here's how I did it:
(using 2 1/2 inch squares - or 2.5 x 5 inch rectangles)

Just follow the shape above to cut them, and then unfold them to hold up your labels!

Here's how great they look when they're all done!
These can be great to hold up scrapbook pages, cards of any kind, labels, etc.
If I was holding up a scrapbook page, I would make a bigger stand (maybe with thicker cardstock too).
If I was holding up a little label, I'd make it smaller.
You may have to experiment with the sizes :)

Enjoy!
Hope you get some nice cards that need to be held up!

Holding Onto Nostalgia

The problem I have with making my own cards (and with other people making them for me!) is that I never want to throw them away!
I feel awful throwing away cards that people have put so much effort into.
Sometimes there are also cards that are just a bit more meaningful that I want to keep too - like my husbands first card to me, or my father-in-laws last card.
So I came up with a plan to save them.
Below are a bunch of cards that have been sitting on a windowsill in our office for ages.

All I needed was a hole punch and two 1" rings.(I bought them from Staples).

I just punched two holes through all the cards (which was actually really tough for some of the cards with three layers of cardstock or ribbon on them! Hello thrice broken wrist! Ow!), and then ran all the cards through the rings.
Now all the cards will be kept and can be stored nicely - like a compact flip-book :)

I would really like to do this with all our wedding cards too, as well as baby cards one day :)
One step closer to getting my life organized!

Thank You Cards :)

After all of the love and support we received this last month, it was time for me to sit down and make some thank you cards.
Since I knew I had to make a bundle of them, I figured I would just make 3 different ones, and then copy them over and over again :)
I used co-ordinating paper from the Clementine paper pack from Close to My Heart
That's why they all look very similar.

I just made some very simple patterns so that I could easily make a whole boatload of them.
Hopefully I can write a nice enough message to express my thankfulness on the inside!

Many, many thanks to those that stood by us over the past 4 weeks.
Please know that we feel very loved and supported at this time thanks to all of you.
We praise God for all of the amazing people he has placed in our lives.
